UCT Geology on top form
Congratulations to Matthew Hodge and Mike Hartnady who were recently awarded the 2013 best Masters and Honours theses, respectively by the Geological Society of South Africa (GSSA).
Matthew's thesis, supervised by Dr Ake Fagereng, focussed on Neotectonic deformation features in Plio-Pleistocene coastal aeolianites and the potential earthquake hazards for the Southern Cape, South Africa.
Mike is continuing his honours research as part of a Masters and is investigating a section of the Gaub River Canyon which cuts the Southern Marginal Zone of the Damara Belt in central Namibia. His supervisors are Dr Johann Diener and Dr Ake Fagereng.
